How to draw a room/surface correctly

Why is this important?
Our system uses the data points from a Floorplanner file to calculate the exact size of each room/surface in square meters (m²). This means that if you don’t apply the exact dimensions from your measurement in your Floorplanner project, the results of our calculation will differ from reality.
How to easily set the right dimensions of a room?
Floorplanner displays both the inner and outer dimensions of a room. You can double-click the value of the inner dimensions and fill in the correct dimensions. Before you click enter to confirm your changes you have the ability to select the direction in which the room needs to expand or reduce.
Left:
The difference between the initial value and new value will be added or subtracted on the left-side of the room
Right: The difference between the initial value and new value will be added or subtracted on the right-side of the room
Center:
The difference between the initial value and new value will be added or subtracted equally on both sides (left and right)
Can I draw a surface on another surface?
The short answer is: yes. This might be useful when you want to mark two different rooms within the same area. For example, when you have a kitchen inside a living room.
First, draw the living room and then use the surface tool in Floorplanner to draw a surface on top the living room surface. Our system detects that the two surfaces overlap and automatically subtracts the surface of the kitchen from the surface of the living room so that we can calculate the square meters (m²) of both areas correctly.
