How to draw a wall correctly

Why is this important?

Our system uses the data points from a Floorplanner file to calculate the exact size of each wall in square meters (m²) and to determine whether it’s an inner or outer wall based on the position of the wall. This way we can calculate the difference between gross floor space and living space correctly. The height of each wall is used to calculate the cubic meters (m³) for each room/area. Please note that this means that if you don’t apply the exact dimensions of a wall (length, height, and weight) from your measurement in your Floorplanner project, the results of our calculation will differ from reality.

How to set the wall thickness?

There are two ways in Floorplanner to set the wall thickness:

1. Set wall thickness by using the wall tool

  1. Click the draw wall tool to create a new wall or select an existing wall
  2. Use the slider or the input field to determine the thickness of the wall in cm

2. Set wall thickness by using the room tool

  1. Click the draw room tool to create a new room with 4 walls
  2. Use the slider or the input field to determine the thickness of the wall in cm

How to set the wall height?

There are two ways in Floorplanner to set the wall thickness:

1. Set wall height by using the wall tool

  1. Click the draw wall tool to create a new wall or select an existing wall
  2. Use the slider or the input field to determine the height of the wall in cm

2. Set wall height by using the room tool

  2. Use the slider or the input field to determine the height of the wall in cm
